I thought I would check in on a couple we met through the internet back in September. They are a family of 4 moving to Belize for a different life. We were hoping to all meet up and let our kids play, etc. Well, to our surprise this is what I found when got to their blog . Such a sad story, only 4 days in Belize and now what?
One more thing, please don't worry about us going to Belize, these things can happen anywhere in the world, (and we actually had the Jeep broken into twice in Edmonton), but as the title says, we are LUCKY LUKIES!!!!!

We have been following your blog daily, and appreciate your checking in on our.. What happened with us was hopefully, an isolated incident, but I think now.. We spent a year and a half planning our move to Belize, and did so, renting a house out of a reputable resort area, and on the third night, someone broke into the house, while we were sleeping, went all the way up into the bedroom were the four of us were ( 2 adults, and 2 young boys), to get to my purse.. They took almost $1200 worth of $ and things, which isn't the big deal, it's the fact that they were 1 foot away from the boys, and we didn't know it.. So we decided, we weren't comfortable with that,, the police and owners didn't care, and we left immediately. We aren't a scared type of people, but that wasn't ok with us, and if would have happened again.. My advice for Americans or those of similiar background going to Belize is, sleep with anything of value underneath the pillow, or it will be gone in the morning.. Sorry.. It stunk for us.. But, we are onward, and setting up a great beach house in Northeast Florida, St. Augustine, and couldn't be happier.. Best of Luck to you..
